One of the key advantages of this specialized antenna system is its direct HF-technical connection to the transmitter and receiver modules. The outdoor unit is positioned atop the vehicle roof, maximizing both transmit and receive power.

Oyster® Connect surpasses conventional smartphone reception and current market offerings as it is unaffected by signal attenuation due to the vehicle body (including thermal insulation glazing and metal structure) or the length of the antenna cable.

Outdoor & Indoor Unit
The Oyster® Connect – Outdoor Unit
The outdoor unit is equipped with both an LTE and a dual-band WLAN module. Each module features a directly connected antenna system, finely tuned for this application, allowing for extended range. In case the LTE network is congested, it can even reach not just the nearest but the next radio mast.

The MIMO system with 4 antennas ensures stable data throughput in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. MIMO leverages intelligent data processing to send and receive data streams across multiple antennas (Multiple Input Multiple Output).

The LTE function relies on an ALL-band antenna in diversity technology, supporting all European LTE bands/providers and offering maximum performance without the need for antenna alignment. Data received in front of the outdoor unit is transmitted via a data cable to the indoor unit without loss.

The Oyster® Connect – Indoor Unit
The indoor unit, situated inside the vehicle, acts as a WLAN access point similar to your home router. It boasts integrated 2.4 and 5 GHz WLAN antennas using 2×2 MIMO technology, enabling both bands to operate in parallel. This means you can connect multiple mobile devices simultaneously across different bands, ensuring the highest possible data transfer.

The indoor unit simplifies device connection, such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, or smart TVs, requiring just one-time setup. It also includes a LAN connection, enabling the establishment of a private wired LAN network.

Simple Assembly, Convenient Operation
The outdoor unit is designed for aerodynamics, measuring only twelve centimeters in height and approximately forty centimeters in length. Weighing a mere 1.5 kg, it easily fits on any recreational vehicle.

Assembly remains straightforward, adhering to our proven system: a mounting plate is affixed to the roof, and the antenna housing is secured with four screws. The SIM card can be exchanged as needed, making it easy to switch to a country-specific SIM card. A roof duct and a four-meter data cable enable flexible installation on any vehicle.

SIM Card / Multi-SIM Card
Utilizing a Data Sharing SIM card, which can be inserted into the card reader during installation, allows a single mobile phone contract to serve both your smartphone and Oyster Connect (supporting up to four SIM cards on the same contract). With roaming charges abolished in Europe since 2017, there are typically no extra fees for mobile phone use in other European countries. UK providers have indicated their commitment to continuing this practice post-Brexit.

The Oyster Connect concept ensures that all transmitter and receiver units, including the SIM card reader, are located in the outdoor unit atop the vehicle roof. This optimal placement eliminates signal deterioration (attenuation) caused by the vehicle body and thermal insulation glazing.

Furthermore, this configuration enables the use of a data cable instead of a coaxial cable for loss-free data transmission from the outdoor unit to the indoor unit. Coaxial cables would introduce signal losses, with an approximate loss of 0.5 dB to 1.5 dB per meter depending on cable quality and frequency. Using a 4-meter long coaxial cable could result in a signal loss of around 50% to 75%.
