C-IQ FAQs

IMPORTANT NOTE:
C-IQ mapping is no longer available for subscription. However it is possible to upgrade your mapping.

If you have a Sat Nav system that uses C-IQ mapping and wish to update your mapping you need to do the following:

  • Purchase 'supercode' map disc with a 'supercode' from us or VDO Dayton.
  • Prices:
    • 99 Euros for UK mapping.
    • 199 Euros for European mapping.
  • Order to delivery takes up to ten days.
  • Alternatively upgrade your computer and have SD card mapping.

Navigation Systems

1. Which VDO Dayton navigation systems support C-IQ?
All new-generation VDO Dayton systems (MS 5500, MS 5400, MS 4150 RS, MS 4200 RS) support C-IQ functionality.

2. Where can navigation systems with C-IQ be bought?
New-generation navigation systems can be purchased directly from a dealer. You can find your nearest dealer in the "Dealer search" section.

3. Do C-IQ enabled navigation systems also work with conventional navigation DVDs/CD-ROMs?
It is not possible to use C-IQ with conventional data media because as well as providing the latest data the flexible C-IQ content concept enables users to use specific content of their choice for selected periods. Since this involves only paying for the selected content, the non-relevant navigation data remains encrypted.

4. Do C-IQ enabled navigation systems also support unlimited activation?
C-IQ offers customer-specific use of products - including freely selectable activation periods as well as unlimited use. The prices are the same as for conventional data media. You can obtain detailed information about unlimited activation via the C-IQ Service Centre or your dealer.


Operating Tips

1. What happens if an error is made when entering the access code?
The navigation system will immediately display a corresponding message if a mistake is made when entering the code. If three errors are made in a row the system will be locked for 2 minutes. This locked period will be extended each time a further error is made.

2. How long can navigation be used after crossing the border into a non-activated country?
It will be possible to navigate for a further 15 minutes after crossing the border. During this time the content for the country can be activated as required. We recommend that you choose the free preview: with each update you can test 2 country maps and 2 travel guide products for 2 days, free of charge.

3. I'm not receiving any traffic information (TMC - Traffic Message Channel). What could be the reason?
1. You haven't activated the traffic information option. Go to the menu item "Settings/Route Criteria" and check that the "Receive TMC Info" function is activated.
2. You haven't ordered any traffic information. Note that you can use traffic information free of charge when ordering a special. For the UK, you must select ITIS TMC.
3 You don't have a TMC box. With the MS 5500 and MS 5400, TMC only works in conjunction with an additional TMC box.


Registration

1. Where can I register a C-IQ enabled system?
Registration can take place either via the Internet, through a dealer or via the C-IQ Service Centre on 00 800 99 33 33 33. Special phone numbers outside Europe: USA - 800 645 4994 or 877 392 7247; Australia - 01800 33 5282 or 03 94 50 31 79.

2. What information is needed to register?
For registration, personal details (name, address, preferred payment method) as well as details of the navigation system (Navi ID) are required. Data protection requirements regarding confidentiality are strictly complied with, of course.

3. Is C-IQ registration only possible if you already have a navigation system?
Even without a navigation system it is possible to register with C-IQ. Registering gives you the opportunity to receive the latest information on C-IQ. Should you acquire a system at a later stage, this can easily be registered for you.


Ordering

1. Where can C-IQ content be ordered?
The complete range of services, including ordering, is available via the Internet at www.c-iq.net , by calling the C-IQ Service Centre on 00 800 99 33 33 33 (Europe-wide) or directly from your VDO Dayton dealer. Special phone numbers outside Europe: USA - 800 645 4994 or 877 392 7247; Australia - 01800 33 5282 or 03 94 50 31 79.

2. Can all C-IQ products be purchased individually?
Yes. C-IQ enables customer-specific selection of products and activation periods. All navigation maps, traffic and travel information can be ordered separately.

3. Isn't it very expensive to buy products separately, e.g. navigation map, travel guide and traffic information?
No, because C-IQ offers numerous "specials". These content packages include navigation maps, travel guides and traffic information on exceptionally favourable terms.

4. Can products be tested before being purchased?
With each DVD/CD-ROM update* C-IQ customers receive a free preview option. Under "C-IQ/Preview" on the menu, 2 country maps and 2 travel guides can be chosen and tested for 2 days, free of charge.
*Only applies to contracts with a limited activation period.

5. Can products also be ordered in advance, e.g. for a holiday?
Yes. When placing an order the start date for activation can be set to suit specific needs. The access code can be entered into the navigation system immediately but the navigation content will only be activated at the desired point in time.

6. What is the procedure for returning products ordered and activated by mistake?
C-IQ content can be cancelled via the C-IQ Service Centre, through a dealer or via the Internet. The first step is to request a revocation code. After this code has been entered into the navigation system a confirmation code will be displayed automatically. Telephoning the C-IQ Service Centre with this confirmation code or typing it in on the internet will instantly cancel the product and the residual value will be reimbursed.


Update Service

1. How much does a C-IQ update cost?*
C-IQ customers receive DVD/CD-ROM updates containing extensive additional information at zero cost.

2. Where can the C-IQ update be collected?*
The updated software is posted to each C-IQ customer's registered address, free of charge.

3. How often is a C-IQ update sent out?*
C-IQ is guaranteed to have the latest data. For this reason, customers receive a DVD/CD-ROM update at least once a year.

4. How can the update's content be used? Is further activation necessary?
Changing the DVD/CD-ROM makes the updated content for activated products available straightaway. It is not necessary to re-enter the access code.

*The update service only applies to contracts with a limited activation period.


Use of C-IQ Website

1. I was registered as a new customer by my dealer / the C-IQ Service Centre. Is it necessary to register separately to use the website?
With registration through a dealer or the C-IQ Service Centre, the entire range of services can also be used on the website. To login to your personal area use your customer number or your chosen User ID. To choose a password simply click on the "No password yet?" link.

2. How do I choose a password?
For security reasons no passwords are issued by the C-IQ Service Centre or dealers. Passwords can be chosen on the "Login and Registration" page of the website. Click on "Initial password?" and enter your user ID or customer number to request an e-mail with a link to a page where you can specify a password.

3. Why was no e-mail sent to me when I clicked on "Initial password?" or "Lost password?"
1. The e-mail address specified is not valid. Please contact the C-IQ Service Centre.
2. You have not specified an e-mail address in your personal C-IQ account details. An error message will give you further instructions on how to submit an e-mail address.

1. What is the telephone number for the C-IQ Service Centre?
The C-IQ Service Centre is available Europe-wide on 00 800 99 33 33 33 (Special phone numbers outside Europe: USA - 800 645 4994 or 877 392 7247; Australia - 01800 33 5282 or 03 94 50 31 79). Please note that availability of this number via mobile phone is limited. If you are unable to connect via this number please dial the special phone number for your country.
