Financial Advisor protects his investment with VDO Trakbak Sentinel

Joe Foley, Managing Director of a Wiltshire-based firm of financial advisors, has selected a VDO Trakbak Sentinel system with full European cover to help guard his recently purchased, limited-edition Audi S4 Cabriolet.

"With only 500 examples released every year in the UK, I'm afraid the S4 runs a high risk of being stolen to order," says Mr Foley. "I therefore decided it was essential to fit a tracking system to improve the chances of recovery should that happen. However, as I had also read that many stolen vehicles end up abroad, I felt I needed the reassurance of a system capable of operating on the Continent as well as in the UK.

"I reviewed the products on the market and decided that VDO Trakbak Sentinel combined with the European cover option provided by EUROWATCH offered the most comprehensive and cost-effective solution to my needs. In particular, I was attracted by Trakbak Sentinel's insurance rating and the feature of a concealed ignition button which provides additional protection should the keys be stolen. These features, allied with the impressive coverage of over 30 countries provided by the EUROWATCH service, were the deciding factors.

"Together, the two systems seemed the logical choice. Once I had made my decision, the fitting went extremely smoothly. My local Siemens VDO distributor came out and installed the system at my home and the registration procedure was quick and easy to follow."

Trakbak Sentinel and EUROWATCH
The TrakBak Sentinel locator-unit itself is compact and lightweight, enabling it to be covertly positioned within a vehicle, making location and removal difficult.

The system provides two levels of security, both of which sound the alarm at the National Monitoring Bureau: Firstly, a motion sensor detects any unauthorised movement of the vehicle. Secondly, there is a driver-verification system. In its standard form, this requires the driver to press a hidden validation button once the key has been inserted into the ignition. Alternatively, an optional key fob-mounted or credit card style driver-verification unit which has to be swiped past a hidden proximity recognition unit is also available.

TrakBak Sentinel uses GPS to monitor the position of vehicles and reports to its control centre via the GSM network. The National Monitoring Bureau for TrakBak Sentinel in the UK is operated by Securi-Guard, which also offers the unique service provided by the International EUROWATCH organisation. For additional protection when travelling abroad, TrakBak Sentinel owners have the option of benefiting from monitoring and tracking services provided by EUROWATCH across the Continent. In this way, TrakBak Sentinel is able to offer a true pan-European vehicle monitoring and tracking service.
