| Rich
basses, high-grade design – the new HPS 10
and HPS 12 subwoofers from VDO Dayton On
the way to becoming a high-end supplier of car audio solutions, VDO Dayton is
now expanding its range by two high-performance extra class subwoofers. The two
HPS 10 and HPS 12 models have RMS power handling of 500 watts and achieve peak
power handling of 1000 and 1200 watts respectively. They combine basses which
are as rich as they are clean with high-grade material mix and an impressive design
echoed throughout the range. The
heart of the subwoofers is provided by an extremely stable and yet sensitively
responding cone made of fibre compounds into which Kevlar, Nomex and glassfibre
have been worked. It rests in an aluminium basket which, due to its new, deep-drawn
shape, provides a maximum spring excursion of 44 millimetres and ensures optimum
cooling of the coil. The cone is made to vibrate by a strontium magnet weighing
2420 grams which produces a perfectly symmetrical field. In addition, the Distortion
Reduced Motor which eliminates almost all distortion, contributes to the ideal
sound performance with clear, undistorted low basses. The sound experience can
be enhanced still further with the optional subwoofer housing which is exactly
designed for these new high-end products . The high-quality design of the new
subwoofers is intended to appeal to the eye as well as the ear: they have large
and shining brand logos on the diaphragm, possess the high-tech touch of brushed
aluminium and emphasis their high quality with gold-plated connectors. High-end-sound
