and communications combined VDO Dayton MG 3000 communications terminal is more
than a hands-free facility (1st August 2002)
VDO Dayton is continuing to drive forward the integration of the in-car infotain-ment
components. That is why the new, innovative MG 3000 communications terminal is
now available for the monochrome and colour navigation systems of the innovative
high-end brand. The terminal can be used to integrate most important mobile phones
on the market perfectly into the existing navigation and audio system. The telephone
function appears on the vehicle screen and can be controlled using the familiar
ergonomic remote control of the MS 3100, MS 5000 and MS 6000 devices. Numerous
destinations in the navigation database can be directly called at the push of
a button. Furthermore, this combination enables direct dialling of breakdown and
emergency numbers stored in the emergency menu. With
the new communications terminal, VDO Dayton makes the use of your mobile phone
child's play in the car too – and with the blessing of the law. Without causing
any distraction, the most important phone functions can be directly controlled
on the large screen – mounted centrally in the field of vision – using the intuitive
VDO Dayton remote control. Entering a new number, making a selection from the
phone book, returning a missed call or receiving an SMS message become as simple
as changing radio station. Perfect sound quality is assured by the integrated
speaker relay which is used to connect the VDO Dayton MG 3000 directly to the
in-car sound system. Alternatively, the communications terminal can also be linked
to the telephone-in function of the car radio, so that the music playing on the
radio is automatically muted when a call is received and the caller is heard over
the speakers of the VDO Dayton audio system. A
series of further functions also become available to drivers with the VDO Dayton
MG 3000. Thus the phone numbers of thousands special destinations stored in the
system, ranging from hotels and restaurants to cinemas and multi-story car parks,
as well as – with the MS 5000 and MS 6000 – the private numbers in the address
book can be di-rectly dialled. So while the navigation system guides you to the
nearest restaurant, you can also call there and book a table at the push of a
button. In addition, there is a whole series of pre-formulated text modules for
the colour devices which mean that answering SMS messages has been simplified
even further. A breakdown and an emergency phone number have been stored in the
navigation menu. These can be directly dialled when MG 3000 is connected. The
MG 3000 consists of nothing more than an unobtrusive black box as well as the
mounting for the mobile and can be easily installed in the vehicle. Because all
common functions are controlled via the navigation system, the phone no longer
needs to be mounted so that it can be directly seen. This means that for the first
time the device can also be installed unobtrusively on the central duct or in
a compartment. The MG 3000 is available for the current Siemens and Nokia mobiles.
