Conrad Anderson, the Birmingham based suppliers and installers of vehicle electronics have just installed the first retro-fitted Dometic vacuum toilet to a motorhome. Although these systems have been installed as standard for years on aeroplanes and boats, the motorhome market has lagged behind somewhat.

The Dometic Vacuum Toilet System features a ceramic toilet bowl and a remote 35, 60 or 90 litre holding tank complete with a vacuum pump and level indicator. The system is emptied at a push of button by the discharge pump in combination with a discharge hose saving the chore of having to regularly empty a small cassette.

Using a Dometic vacuum toilet and holding tank will mean that you never have to think of embarking on what is generally known as the worst aspect of motorhoming, dubbed by some as "the Elsan walk". Instead you just drive up, attach an extension to the discharge pipe, flick a switch and wait for your tank to empty.

The Dometic Vacuum toilet system can be fitted to any vehicle with space for the holding tank and pump mechanism, and costs from £2400 fitted.
