How
does C-IQ work? The
registered navigation system user receives free updates of the latest DVD (or
CD's). The desired content is then 'activated' through either the C-IQ Service
Centre, via the Internet (24/7) or directly from the VDO Dayton Dealer.
What does Siemens VDO intend to do with this customer data? Inform
customers of hardware/software updates and direct them to the Dealers. Can
my VDO Dayton Dealer generate access codes for me?
If the you, the customer, wishes, I can act on your behalf, with the you being
charged at the end of the process, or your Dealer can carry out the transaction
himself.
Must I use the internet to register/generate codes? No,
you can always call the C-IQ service centre on telephone 00 800 99 33 33 33 (or
there is a fax facility available). How
much does navigation map software cost? The
prices change from time to time so it's sueful to phone us for accurate pricing
for up-to-date, precision street-level map software. Where
do I find traffic information? The
latest traffic information
transmitted via Traffic Message Channel (TMC) and decoded by an existing TMC receiver
allows intelligent detours to avoid congestion. TMC traffic information is free
in the following countries: Austria,
Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. Where

What are the payment options? Credit
card, bank transfer or invoicing. Is
it possible to revoke a code? Yes,
a revocation code is issued, and is entered into the navigation system. The system
then displays a confirmation code. This confirmation code must be forwarded to
VDO Dayton via the C-IQ Service Centre. The order can only be deleted and the
corresponding amount credited when VDO Dayton has received a confirmation code.
The user will receive a full credit if less than two weeks has elapsed since the
code was issued. Beyond that, a €10 handling charge will be applied. What

it possible to 'preview' the navigation map data before purchase? Yes,
C-IQ services can be tested free of charge: Every new update comes with free use
of 2 countries and 2 Travel Info products for 2 days. It is not possible to preview
TMC.
Is it possible to buy a 'lifelong' activation period ? Yes,
for instance, a lifelong activation on a region (e.g. UK/IRL) would cost the user
€169. The user would no longer receive automatic updates, but can at any time,
revert back to the update service.
Is there a 'contract' for the customer to sign ? Yes,
the customer must be aware that once the chosen time period has expired, the navigation
functionality will cease to be available until the content is re-activated.
What happens if we input the code incorrectly? After
3 attempts, the system will lock for one minute. After each further attempt to
input and invalid code, the system will again lock, but with increasing lengths
of time. The
Navi i.d is showing ???? ???? - what do I do? This
is a software error. Re-load software. What
happens when I cross a country border, and drive into a region that I do not have
codes for?
The system will prompt you to call the C-IQ service centre; will continue for
another 15 minutes, and automatically scale the map to 1km. 22. What is 'C-IQ
info' ? After loading an updated map disc, go to 'C-IQ info' on the system, this
will tell you what is new on that disc.
