The
Electronic Cruise Control is composed of four principal components: Throttle
actuating unit. This moves the accelerator backwards and forwards as told
by the computer. It can be either vacuum or electric powered, both are very reliable
and smooth in operation and are connected in parallel to your existing accelerator
cable or directly to the pedal. The
Command Module. The control unit that you see, used to fix and adjust
your speed. Can be dash, stalk or steering wheel mounted.
The
Speed Sensor. A This measures the engine or road speed of your vehicle.
The
control computer. The computer constantly samples the speed or tachometer
signal from the sensor and tells the actuactor to pull or slack off to maintain
a steady speed. | |
| The
Cruise Control will shut off safely by employing any of the following methods: Depressing
the brake (and the clutch pedal when fitted with a clutch switch).
Sliding
the ON/OFF switch to OFF.
If the
vehicle’s speed reduces to approximately 25% below the set cruise speed (e.g.
a steep hill). Turning
OFF the ignition key (make sure the steering lock mechanism will NOT be
activated). The Cruise Control will disengage if the brake LIGHTS burn out, the
brake circuit fuse blows, a brake light becomes loose or any of the connectors
become separated. |

| Our
Cruise Control system saves fuel by controlled acceleration rates and constant
speed. There is less wear and tear on your vehicle plus the constant driving pattern
facility of the Cruise Control reduces mental stress and physical tiredness by
enabling you to relax your pressure on the accelerator. This
reduces aches and pains, cramps in the legs and back caused through pressure on
the accelerator during extended periods of driving. We also give you the option
to prevent your vehicle from breaking the speed limit. It
is simple to install and easy to use plus they have the additional feature of
easy re-installion should you decide to purchase a new vehicle. Our Cruise Control
system is extremely versatile designed to be fitted to any vehicle, new or used,
manual or automatic, petrol, diesel and will even fit turbo drive vehicles. The
built-in safety features mean that the Cruise Control system can shut-off with
ease. |
| | | FIX | Engages
Cruise Control and maintains current vehicle speed. |
KM+
tap-up |
Increases vehicle speed at a controlled rate while the FIX/KM+ button pressed
and held. Increases vehicle cruise speed approximately 1 MPH each time the FIX/KM+
button is pressed and released. | KM-
tap-down | Decreases
vehicle cruise speed approximately 1 MPH each time the MEM/KM- button is pressed
and released. | | MEM
(Memory) | Returns
vehicle to previous set speed after Cruise Control has been disengaged by brake
or clutch. The memory is cleared when the ignition key is turned off. |
Engagement
Speeds
The minimum engagement speed of the cruise control is less than 30 MPH. The maximum
speed is 100+ MPH. |
| HOW
TO USE THE ELECTRONIC CRUISE CONTROL | |
You simply
drive as normal to your required speed, press the ‘FIX’ button and the system’s
computer will then precisely monitor your vehicle’s progress, making imperceptible
throttle changes to maintain that setting even over undulating terrain. A touch
on the brake or clutch will instantly give you manual throttle control again.
A further press of the ‘MEM’ (memory) button will gently accelerate you back to
the last set speed. Fine adjustment of your speed while cruising is also possible
by either a touch on the ‘KM+’ or ‘KM-’ button, this changes the speed by approximately
1 MPH up or down. |
