Kit Feature |
In
the past Cruise control (otherwise known as speed control) has mainly been regarded
as a feature found on vehicles at the luxury end of the market. Now although many manufacturers do offer cruise control as an option, it requires selecting a higher trim level at far higher cost and bundled in with other extras - which you may or may not want. Many manufacturers also don't offer cruise controls as aftermarket additions, they are only available 'factory fitted'.
Conrad Anderson
offers aftermarket cruise controls that can be retro
fitted to 99% of road vehicles regardless of age, make/model, petrol or diesel, manual or automatic and at a far lower cost than a trim level upgrade.

The
Professional Range of Cruise Control is composed of four principal components:
Actuator (vacuum, electric or electronic)
This adjusts the accelerator as told
by the computer. It can be either vacuum, electric powered or fully electronic, all are very reliable
and smooth in operation. The vacuum and electric actuators are mechanical systems connected in parallel to your existing accelerator
cable or directly to the pedal if drive-by-wire. The fully electronic actuator is connected to the throttle pedal via a vehicle specific or universal wiring loom. The
Command Module. The control unit that you see, used to fix and adjust
your speed. Can be dash, stalk or steering wheel mounted.
ECU.
The computer constantly samples the speed
signal from the vehicle and adjusts the actuactor to maintain
a steady speed. | |
| The
Cruise Control will shut off safely by employing any of the following methods:
Depressing
the brake (and the clutch pedal when fitted with a clutch switch).
Pressing
the ON/OFF button.
If the
vehicle's speed reduces to approximately 25% below the set cruise speed (e.g.
a steep hill). Turning
OFF the ignition key (make sure the steering lock mechanism will NOT be
activated). The Cruise Control will disengage if the brake LIGHTS burn out, the
brake circuit fuse blows, a brake light becomes loose or any of the connectors
become separated. |

| Our
Cruise Control system can save fuel by controlled acceleration rates and constant
speed. There is less wear and tear on your vehicle plus the constant driving pattern
facility of the Cruise Control reduces mental stress and physical tiredness by
enabling you to relax your pressure on the accelerator.
This
reduces aches and pains, cramps in the legs and back caused through pressure on
the accelerator during extended periods of driving. We also give you the option
to prevent accidental speeding. It
is simple to install and easy to use plus they have the additional feature of
easy re-installion should you decide to purchase a new vehicle. Our Cruise Control
system is extremely versatile designed to be fitted to any vehicle, new or used,
manual or automatic, petrol, diesel and will even fit turbo drive vehicles. The
built-in safety features mean that the Cruise Control system can shut-off with
ease. |
| | | FIX | Engages
Cruise Control and maintains current vehicle speed. |
KM+
tap-up |
Increases vehicle speed at a controlled rate while the FIX/KM+ button pressed
and held. Increases vehicle cruise speed approximately 1 MPH each time the FIX/KM+
button is pressed and released. | KM-
tap-down | Decreases
vehicle cruise speed approximately 1 MPH each time the MEM/KM- button is pressed
and released. | | MEM
(Memory) | Returns
vehicle to previous set speed after Cruise Control has been disengaged by brake
or clutch. The memory is cleared when the ignition key is turned off. |
Engagement
Speeds
The minimum engagement speed of the cruise control is less than 30 MPH. The maximum
speed is 100+ MPH. |
| HOW
TO USE THE ELECTRONIC CRUISE CONTROL | |
You simply
drive as normal to your required speed, press the 'FIX' button and the system's
computer will then precisely monitor your vehicle's progress, adjusting the throttle to maintain that setting even over undulating terrain. A touch
on the brake or clutch will instantly give you manual throttle control again.
A further press of the 'MEM' (memory) button will gently accelerate you back to
the last set speed. Fine adjustment of your speed while cruising is also possible
by either a touch on the 'KM+' or 'KM-' button, this changes the speed by approximately
1 MPH up or down. |
