ACT/OFF
SWITCH
Puts the cruise control into operational mode (ACTIVATE) or
disable mode (OFF).
KM+
BUTTON
Set to current speed. When pressed and released quickly, this
will cause the cruise to engage and maintain the current road
speed provided that:
A.
ACT-OFF switch is "ON".
B. Brake pedal is not depressed.
When
this button is pressed and held down for more than 1 second, the
cruise will engage and accelerate at a smooth and constant rate.
When the button is released, the vehicle will stop accelerating
and will maintain the present speed.
NOTE
This is a dual function button. Press once to activate. Once the
cruise control is set press the KM+ button once to increase the
speed. This is a safety feature, preventing the cruise control
from accelerating should the KM+ be accidentally pressed and held.
KM-
BUTTON
Once the cruise has been engaged, if it is disengaged either
by tapping the brake pedal or by turning the cruise off, the
vehicle can be returned to the last set speed by pressing this
button, provided that:
A.
The Cruise is switched "ON".
B. The current speed is above 50% of last set speed.
C. The brake pedal is not depressed.
D. The ignition key has not been turned OFF and back ON.
When
the KM- button is pressed and held down for more than 1 second,
the cruise will decelerate at a smooth and constant rate. When
the button is released the vehicle will stop decelerating and
will maintain the present speed.
TAP
UP AND TAP DOWN
When the cruise is engaged the KM+ and KM- button perform additional
functions not available on most other cruise controls. Tapping
the KM+ button causes the set speed to increase approximately
1 mph each time it is pressed. Tapping the KM- button causes
this speed to reduce in approximately 1 mph increments
CAUTION
Do not use Tap Down for major speed reductions, use the brake
pedal or OFF to disengage the cruise, then reset at a lower
speed.
SAFETY
FEATURES
The
cruise control can be shut off by any of the following methods:
1.
Depressing the brake pedal.
2.
Depressing the clutch pedal, if a clutch switch is fitted.
3.
Turning the Command Module OFF.
4.
Revving engine too fast (if the yellow tachometer wire is connected)
5.
Decelerating to 75% of set speed.
6.
By turning off the ignition switch, after steering the vehicle
to a safe stopping place.
The
cruise control will disengage if the brake fuse blows, a brake
light burns out, or any of the connectors become separated.
For safe and economical operation NEVER operate any cruise control
in congested traffic or on wet roads.
SAFETY
NOTE
Should a situation ever arise where actions A through D above
will not disengage the cruise you can always turn the ignition
OFF. If your vehicle has a steering lock, but sure it cannot
be activated when the car is in gear.
NOTE
Your cruise control is designed with numerous safety features,
but none of these can prevent a runaway condition caused by
a tangled or jammed linkage. DOUBLE CHECK IT!
WARNING
Engine back firing can damage the vacuum actuator. If any throttle
pull is noticed from the cruise control when it is not operating,
disconnect the actuator and immediately repair or replace it.
